Skipper Ches – As Tough As It Gets.
“To be honest, I didn't think this was "my type" of book, but within couple of paragraphs I was completely hooked. One of those can't-put-it-down books. In the beginning the author jokingly says something to the effect of "but this is a story for the movie version." This book SHOULD be made into a movie. It portrays a period of time and life as it was without undue sentimentality. It's well written, well edited and swift moving.
These are real people.”

“Great book it took me a few months to read but I’m a slow reader - pretty interesting!! Lots of happy times back in them days for what people had to deal with! Also, some sad things in your book make it very interesting!! Thank you Fred!!”

“I have just finished a book called “Skipper Ches As Tough As it Gets” by Fred Dyke. This book brought back many memories of my own grandparents growing up in Newfoundland with all of its struggles and at the same time a life that is cherished by many. The book is well written and goes into great detail on what it was like for this family growing up and raising a family in very difficult times. The story really shows the caring for family and others while growing up in Newfoundland and how some of us try to keep that alive today I would encourage people to buy this book because it could be a story that relates to our own grandparents upbringing.”
